Illinois Coaches, Runners, Kindred Spirits,

I just want to let you know that my new running book— What Mad Pursuit: Short Stories About Runners—has finally hit the finish line.

The book is a collection of 17 fictional stories about runners and their world. A lot drawn from my racing at Proviso and Kansas and coaching at Willowbrook and Deerfield. Some stories are dark, some comical, but each sheds light on the struggles and joys of the running life. It’s already gotten some cool reviews from people you know:

“Gets to the soul of why we run,” Joan Benoit Samuelson

“Wildly-imagined,” Amby Burfoot

“Some of his characters will always be with me,” Frank Murphy I’m pretty sure you and your runners will like the book.

You can find What Mad Pursuit here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/What-Mad-Pursuit-Stories-Runners/dp/B08XGSTQTQ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=What+Mad+Pursuit&qid=1619540510&sr=8-1

  1. Excellent read. Helpful in renewing the effort and plan. A retired road cop who has strong teams over the past 12 years. Coaching both boys and girls. Between Cross country and track I’ve has seen the girls team be more successful compared to the boys teams. I mean I shouldn’t complain between both teams in 12 years they have won 22 league titles. But I’m always wanting to improve over the last season. So I’m always wanting too improve.
