-Wheaton North High School gyms and field house
-Park somewhere near the west end of the building and make your way to Door 7
(Door 7 is on the west end of the building facing the football stadium)
When:
-Sunday, Jan 25th
-Door 7 will be open after 9:00am
-Session 1 begins at 10:00am, but get there a few minutes early to check in and receive your extremely stylish A-Z t-shirt
-Session 1: 10:00-10:45
-Session 2: 11:00-11:45
-Session 3 12:00-12:45
What:
-For sessions 1 and 2, you will be assigned to a group with a coach and a few other athletes. During one of those sessions you will be working on discus technique. During the other, you will be working on either glide or rotational shot, depending on what you told us on the registration form.
-For discus work, you will throw squishy throwing balls into a net
-In your shot session, you will throw an actual indoor shot. If you are brand new to shot putting, you may use a medball for some movements so you can keep your wrist healthy as you learn.
-For session 3, you can choose which event you’d like to work on and which coach you’d like to work with. If, for example, you’d like to continue whatever you had been working on in the discus session, simply go back to the coach you were working with. If you’d like to get some tips from a different coach, you are free to do that as well. If you did discus and rotational shot in sessions 1 and 2 but you’d also like to work on glide shot putting, you could do that during session 3 also. The world will be your oyster.
What to bring:
-Throwing shoes are not mandatory, but if you have a pair, definitely bring them.
-A water bottle. Again, not mandatory but also not a bad idea.
-An indoor shot if you have one you like. Otherwise, you can use ours. If you do bring an indoor shot, please mark it in some way so that you don’t lose track of it.
