University of Notre Dame Head Men’s Cross Country Coach / Assistant Track CoachIn his 9th year at the University of Notre Dame Coach Carlson works with men’s cross country, distance and middle distance runners on the track. During his tenure with the Irish, Carlson has directly coached Notre Dame student-athletes to two NCAA Championships, eight school records, 14 NCAA All-Americans, 25 athletes on Notre Dame’s top-10 lists, four ACC championship and two USA U20 champions. During the 2019 season Carlson coached Notre Dame’s men’s DMR to the second fastest NCAA time in history 9:26.10, along with capturing the national title. The Irish have been in the top 30 at NCAA championships on 19 different occasions between indoor, outdoor and cross country with Carlson on the staff. An All-American at North Central College Carlson helped the program win the Division III national championship in Cross Country, Indoors and Outdoors. Following graduation Carlson coached at St. Charles North High School for one year.
