Barry Malloyd  is a 1982 scholar athlete and graduate of East St. Louis Lincoln Sr. High School he was an IHSA high school Track & Field State Champion,  AAU Junior Olympic National Champion and US Track & Field All-American in the 110m high hurdles.  Malloyd attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.  Where he was a College All-American, SWAC Conference Champion, NCAA participant and competed in the U. S. Olympic Trials Track & Field Qualifier in the 110m high hurdles.   Malloyd served as Assistant Men’s/Women’s Track & Field coach at Kentucky State University from 1989-1992.

In 2000 Barry Malloyd was named East St. Louis Lincoln Middle School Head Boys Track & Field Coach.  Malloyd’s team won seven combined IESA 7th and 8th Grade Boys State Championships.  In 2006 Malloyd became the Assistant Boys Track & Field Coach at East St. Louis Sr. High School where he produced several IHSA 110m HH/300IH State Champions.  In 2012 Barry Malloyd was named the Head Boys Track & Field Coach at East St. Louis Sr. High School.

During his first year as the Flyers head coach his team finished second at the IHSA State Meet.  But in 2016, East St. Louis Sr. High School Flyers won the IHSA Class 3A Boys State Track & Field Championship.  Also during 2016 the Flyers 4x200m Relay team broke the 40 year old IHSA State Meet record with a blazing time of 1:25:5.  In 2016 Coach Malloyd was named the  USTFCCCA 2016 coach of the year.

Barry  Malloyd is presently employed with East St. Louis School District #189 as the Physical Education Grant Manager.  He is also is the author of the book “Mama Said Write It” a compilation of poetry and creative writings.
