Mike Schmidt:

Became head coach of Burlington Central in 1996.  

Will be entering his 25th year as head coach of BC, 30th overall year.

In 24 years as head coach teams have won 16 Outdoor Conference Championships in the Big Northern Conference for 13 of them and 3 from the Kishwaukee River Conference.

Including winning the last 9 Conference Championships in a row 2011-2019

His teams have a current streak of 20 straight years of winning either a Sectional, Outdoor or Indoor Conference Championship.  2000-2019

Won 7 Sectional Championships

7 top 10 State finishes including 5 in the last 8 years

2001 and 2015 State Runner-up

2014 State 3rd place.  

24 Relay Teams have placed at State, including 3 State Champions and 5 Runners up  (96 relay medals)

2001 4×400, 2003 4×800, 2012 4×800 State Champions

Current streak of 7 Straight 4×400 teams have medaled in the top 6 in State from 2013-2019

42 Individual medalists with 4 State Champions and 5 Runners up.

All total 138 State medals as Head Coach.

Steven E. Major D.C., D.A.C.R.B.

Dr. Major has been in private practice since 1989 with a focus on sports medicine and human performance.  He is 1 of 13 Illinois chiropractors Board Certified in Rehabilitation. In addition to his practice, he has assisted in coaching sprinters at both Burlington Central and Wheaton North.  

Over the past 30 + years he has treated, trained, or coached a multitude of elite level, professional, and Olympic athletes.  He is the previous team physician of the Pepsi/ Schwinn Cycling team and served on the medical team for the US at the World Series of Volleyball in Rio de Janeiro Brazil.

Currently, Dr. Major is on the medical and sports performance advisory board for Xendurance, a nutrition company based in Scottsdale, AZ.
